Identifying a mean man: A mean man behaves arrogantly and rudely with friends and family when get blessed with high status. (Imam Shafi رحمت اللہ علیہ)

Last year during Umrah while we were performing the ritual of circumambulation of Holy Kaaba, as I could not go till Hajr e Aswad, I asked my son that I wanted to go to Rukn e Yamani. My son got worried that I might fall in the rush. We performed Umrah in the month of Rabi Ul Awal when tens of thousands of Muslims throng Kaaba. I told my son to let me go to the Rukn e Yamini; I recited Surah Quresh thrice and to my surprise, one man made room for me by asking others to ‘let the old lady touch first’. My son also got the opportunity to touch that stone. I asked my son to ask his wife, who afraid of the crowd was standing behind, to come forward, leave the children with us and touch the Rukn e Yamani too. I asked her to keep reciting Surah Quresh. She successfully touched both Rukn e Yamani and Ghilaf e Kaaba. It was all His blessing that we visited Holy Kaaba that year.

I had just offered the obligatory prayer of noon, when my son telephoned and told that his friend Zeeshan and his mother were going for Umrah the next day. I wished to go there too. My son assured of planning the same soon. That evening my son called me and told that his friend’s brother and sister were not going; and his friend had offered him to go along. This made me happy. Four of us left for the airport. On airport upon learning that names as on the tickets were different from those of the passengers, I started reciting Surah Quresh and got cleared by the authorities. I thanked Almighty Allah for all this. I had the same fear while returning home but authorities at airport matched only ticket numbers and we peacefully came home back.
